Shoal of Silver Darlings

£35.00

Product of: Isle of Harris

Ships to: Canada, New Zealand, Australia

These four silver darlings are in shades of blue glass. They look great on a window sill with the sun shining through it.

All my glass is made by hand fired in my kiln at home. Each fish is cut by hand and then fused at a low temperature in the kiln to give a flowing and rounded outline. The shoal is made from individual fish which are fired for a second time to fuse them together. After the firings the fish are then mounted on a wooden stand.

Each shoal is made to order and uses streaked glass which results in a unique piece every time. The small seaside sun catcher measures approximately 15 cm by 12cm.

Harris Glass Studio

I started making fused glass as a hobby with a tiny kiln in the kitchen that was bought as a Christmas present. I fell in love with the process of designing and making glass, experimenting with lots of different ideas. After listing a few things on Etsy I finally invested in a bigger kiln and installed it in a shed at the end of the garden at our house in the Cotswolds.
Things have grown from there and after visiting the Isle of Harris many times over the years we finally took the plunge and bought a house here. My studio is in Cluer, a small village in the bays of Harris and I count my blessings that the picture is the view from my studio window!
I like to experiment with new designs and techniques, and love the excitement of opening the kiln each morning and seeing what transformation has taken place! When not in the workshop I can be found out running with my dog, Scout or coaching gymnastics.
